DBIS Thermal Breast Cancer Scanner
OBJECTIVE: Taking reference from a functional prototype, create a thermal scanner for detecting breast cancer. The design should afford good user experience for patients. For clinical technicians, the design should be intuitive to operate and maintain in order to reduce training time and human error.
OUTCOME: The project started with a UX audit of a functional prototype undergoing clinical trial.
We mapped out the entire patient and clinician user journey to identify pain points and gaps to be addressed.
At the same time, we worked with downstream supply chain to understand security, engineering, manufacturing as well as transportation constraints to ensure viability of our concept development.
We developed the selected design direction and validated the design with a first-built sample - to gauge usability and ergonomics before release of final data for implementation.
The design won the prestigious Red Dot Best-Of-Best & also the Luminary Award to represent the top entry.
