Laennec digital pathology imaging system
OBJECTIVE: Laennec is the world’s first stain-free digital pathology imaging system approved for clinical diagnosis.
To create an Industrial Design around a functional prototype to improve usability in operation and maintenance - without altering the major internal components and compromising reliability.
The form factor should be appropriate within clinical environments and fit for a global market. Usability issues should be identified and resolved to reduce human errors during operation.
OUTCOME: We worked with Histoindex and contract manufacturers to establish major components and sub-assembly relationships before configuring different form factors for ergonomics evaluation. We developed alternative concept variations with the established design parameters to ensure usability, viability and manufacturability before Histoindex selected the final design direction for implementation.
